Field Research [Mercantile Office System]
Field Research Introduction
We, five members me, Anit, Deepesh, Arjun and rakesh was implicated in field research at Mercantile Office System, as the objective of Analysis of client/server system and Networking. As our objective we have meet the system administrator of MOS Mr. Eshwori Sharma and discuss in detail around 1 hour.
We have principally discussed about the client/server architecture, Software, Networking Devices, Networking Environment and firewalls etc. used by MOS.
We have found that, MOS is the huge ISP and solution provider in various areas of Nepal. It is the only one ISP of Nepal for providing .np authority.
We are much satisfied from the system administrator of MOS for kind co-operation and providing us reliable & more information about recent trends, networking and security challenges of ISP.
Introduction of Mercantile Office System [MOS]
Mercantile has been at the forefront of the Internet evolution and is a cutting edge Internet service provider (ISP) in Nepal. Mercantile pioneered the concept of providing Internet Service in Nepal when the popularity of Internet was just beginning in the United States of America.

Client side--Linus & Microsoft
Server Side- Warp Server, DEL, IBM.
2. Application
i.) Back End
-SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL.
ii.) Front End
-Java, Visual.NET.
3. Data warehousing.
Not much spotlight on data warehousing but used mirroring Concept.
4. Middleware Software.
Yes, they use their own middleware software for communication between two or more application.
5. Performance Turing and Optimizations
Yes, they have check their system performance in regular basis and upgrade their feature frequently.
5. Business Process Re-Engineering
The concept of BEP they had applied, as they re-engineer their business process and upgrade the existing system after their R&D department suggest.
6. Recent Trends
Focus on free and open source software rather than other, upgrade office system, Backup data once a day, Update security terrorization etc.
